Question:
|
Can I be re-baptized,or would it be re-crucifying Christ all over again?

Baptism is by immersion for born-again believers only (Acts 8:36-38). If a person has never been saved, their baptism does not count (Acts 2:41; Acts 19:4-5). If a saved person was baptized after salvation, but not by immersion, it doesn't count (Colossians 2:12). Therefore, you would need to be re-baptized only if you were not saved when you were baptized previously, or if you were not baptized by immersion. In addition, since baptism is a church ordinance (I Corinthians 11:2), I believe that it should be administered under the authority of New Testament church. Getting re-baptized would never be re-crucifying Christ, for baptism has nothing to do with salvation. Those who believe that they can lose their salvation and get it back are the ones who are "crucify(ing) to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame" (Heb. 6:6). Baptism in the Bible is never for salvation. It is an outward testimony of the salvation that you have already received, and a step of obedience in the Christian life.
