I'm not sure that I understand your question, but I will do my best to answer it.
The answer would be that God, in His divine wisdom, chose to have John write the book of the Revelation. The Bible tells us in II Peter 1:21 that "Holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost." The Holy Ghost moved John, not Linus. I'm not sure why Linus would have been chosen anyway. He is obviously a co-worker of Paul's in
II Tim 4:21, but beyond that we don't know anything about him. Some traditions ( specifically the church father Irenaeus) place him as the bishop in Rome, but this is not universally accepted.
