| Question:
Do you feel it is OK for a Christian to have satellite or cable TV?
|
|
Response:
I do not have Satellite TV or Cable TV. To me, the same principles apply to that as apply to going to the movies (For that matter, I do not ever rent videos or DVD's either). However, I am not certain that it is inherently wrong to have that type of TV reception any more than it would be wrong to have a satellite radio or an Internet connection, or even take the newspaper or a secular periodical. All of these involve paying to bring entertainment/information into your home which can contain wicked words, images, or ideas. My desire is to get people to learn what they should and should not watch, and to make those decisions like a Christian should. The problem is not the method of transmission - the problem is the material being viewed.
I would add, however, that if you can not control yourself, and can not handle the temptations that come from Cable TV or the Internet, then you should remove them from your home. We are to "flee youthful lusts", and that which would tempt us must be avoided.
